Transitions and Rituals

Everything I’ve experienced in life has brought me to this moment.  I am so curious about what’s happening around me since it illuminates what is happening within me.

Both my intention and where I place my attention determines my experience.  That includes the seen and unseen.  The physical ‘seen’ world and the metaphysical ‘unseen’ world of energy and vibration.

Everything that emerges in the physical realm evolves out of a corresponding part in the unseen energetic realm.  Everything has meaning.

Transitions

The balance to the natural expression of life is continually in transition.  New growth begins, has its time and eventually ends: day into night, seconds into minutes, winter into spring, from the womb into the world and so it goes.

Transitions arrive in all shapes and sizes.  Some transform into milestones, others are more subtle.  They may remove people from the known and push them into the unknown.

  • Transitions bring new energy, inspiration, innovation, potential.  They can produce discontent, disorientation, or distress.  Relationships can change and feel unsatisfactory.

  • At work, at play or what gives our life purpose may feel empty and meaningless. It can be uncomfortable but a wonderful opportunity for growth.

  • We may be baffled about who we are now – an inner reorientation - how has my identity changed?

Welcome in the confusion.  At the soul level we are maturing.  We must let go in order to allow the energy to move.

Rituals

There is power in using rituals when in the transitional phases of our life.  In an ever-changing world rituals foster a sense of connection, contentment, and calm.  They tap into something deep inside which longs for expression.   They can mark the end of something as we begin again.

Meaning and purpose make our rituals relevant and valuable to our lives. The key is to be intentional and work from a grounded base so we establish a link between our hearts and bodies.

Some rituals enable us to acknowledge the past and move forward guiding us into deeper levels of consciousness.

Ritual practices move you from the ordinary flow of life into your sacred space. Outside the realm of ordinary space and time, rituals create their magic through the mystical language of symbolic representation.

Intentional Rituals

Here are some simple ideas to start you off. The power of our rituals is directly connected to the power of our intention and will. There is benefit from creating your own rituals that speaks to your soul.

  • Meditation  -  start and end your day by meditating.  It’s a way to connect with yourself and with sacred energy.

Walking Meditation - walking in an intentional and conscious way can make a space to clear the mind, contemplate, reflect. A chance to center and connect with yourself and with nature.

  • Candles - mindfully light a candle as a way of initiating light into the world. Lighting a candle provides an opportunity to place an intention ‘in lighting this candle I invite peace and harmony into the world’.
    use your own words.

Light a candle and blow it out - blowing out the flame of a candle represents and respects an ending, resolution or a death.  In a quiet still space light, a candle and hold your clear intention and then intentionally blow out the flame.
    - every day until it feels complete.

  • The Wind - for this ‘surrender’ ritual you will use a leaf or feather.  You can do it outdoors.  Hold the object in your hand.  Contemplate your intention.  When ready, release the feather.  Blow it away from your hand or wait for the wind to carry it off.  Watch as it moves away.

The wind is transformative it represents a magical force unseen but powerful, allowing you to shift, let go of old thoughts and let renewal begin.
    - it’s excellent for when you feel weighed down.

  • Partitions - sometimes we just need a moment to transition and switch between one thing and another.  Sit quietly with your breath.

Inhale (everything you just experienced) and

    Exhale (let it go).

Anchor it with a word: relax, calm, release, letting go, or some word that helps you to transition and orient to the next thing.
    - repeat as long as your system needs.
